For this quick-turn story, I attended the White House press briefing, compiled online statements from politicians and worked with Politifact reporters to pull expert opinions. The piece takes an Arizona angle, while still incorporating national politics. From start to finish, this story took me less than five hours to complete.

For this co-authored piece, I attended Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva’s (D-Tucson) swearing in ceremony and produced a quick-turn story within three hours following the ceremony. I collaborated with my colleague by blending my experience viewing the ceremony on the House floor with his write-up from press conferences held earlier in the day.

For this co-authored piece, I proposed that my colleague and I explore the implications of a Los Angeles court greenlighting Immigration and Customs Enforcement to racially profile. I noticed a trend of American citizens being approached, apprehended and detained by ICE officers in cities across the country, and pitched an Arizona-focused story highlighting the experiences of Arizonans who had encounters with ICE. I was very creative in my sourcing for the story; I connected with potential sources by cold-messaging individuals on various social media applications and following online leads.

As part of the Cronkite Borderlands Initiative, I traveled to Panama City, Panama, to cover the impacts of President Trump threats to “retake control” of the Panama Canal. In this long-form piece, I explore how the United States' complicated history in Panama – most notably demonstrated by the effects of the 1989 U.S. invasion of Panama and the 1964 Flag Riots – brought up historical grievances when Trump threatened the sovereignty of the country. I conducted interviews in Spanish and English with more than 20 sources, including Panamanian and American political scientists, historians, and journalists, as well as Panamanian individuals who lived through the 1989 invasion and the events of 1964.

For this narrative piece, I traveled to Cochise, Arizona, to report on the opening of the Arizona Raptor Center at Cochise Stronghold Ranch. I spoke with the owners of the ranch, multiple expert falconers and a birds of prey expert at the Phoenix Zoo for the story, which was published in the May 2025 issue of Arizona Highways Magazine.

This enterprise story focuses on Waymo’s introduction to the Washington, D.C. market. I interviewed members of the blind and visually impaired community, road and highway safety advocates and spokespeople from Waymo’s headquarters to analyze how the autonomous vehicles have responded to capital-specific quirks, such as motorcades and protests. I also conducted man-on-the-street interviews and took photos for this piece.

This enterprise story explores the complexities surrounding the Affordable Care Act subsidy expiration and its impact on Arizonans. I took a national issue and localized it through compelling character interviews and extensive research on the specificities of premium enhanced tax credits. I spoke with a wide variety of sources, including insurance brokers and navigators, impacted parties, public health experts and healthcare advocates to produce a well-rounded, comprehensive piece.

This story delves into the psychological bond between Charlie Kirk and his devoted fan base. Instead of simply reporting on the assassination of the political influencer, I took a unique approach to the story by focusing on the implications of parasocial relationships. I spoke with experts in the field of parasocial psychology for the piece.

Over the course of eight months, I investigated and reported on the implications of Temporary Protected Status revocation on Venezuelan and Haitian beneficiaries. Alongside my co-reporter, I traveled to Miami, Florida, to speak with impacted parties, immigration advocates, community members, local lawmakers and lawyers to highlight the ramifications of TPS removal. The piece has been republished by Caracas Chronicles, NonDoc, The Arizona Daily Sun, The Fulcrum and Havasu News.
